How to Turn On or Off Closed Captions & Subtitles on Netflix

Reading Time

When streaming on Netflix, it is helpful to see subtitles or closed captions on the movie or TV show. Instead of assuming what the characters are saying, you can read its actual text below the screen. Closed captions are the text of the audio you hear, including both the dialogues and the sound effects. Subtitles are the direct translations to another language.

However, not all people appreciate having subtitles or closed captions while watching their favorite shows. These texts seem annoying and would only block their view from the picture. If you don’t want the subtitles or the closed captioning feature, you can turn it off easily. You can also turn it back on at any time you want.

Enable or Disable Closed Captioning and Subtitles when Streaming on Netflix

Users have the option to enable or disable the closed captions and subtitles on their Netflix app. Whether you stream on your mobile device, your computer, or your smart TV, you can turn on or off the function easily. See our guide below on how to do it depending on your streaming device.
