Managing your subtitles on CBS All Access differs from one streaming device to another. The procedure may work on your phone, but it does not work the same with your smart TV or TV stick. Check out the different ways to manage your subtitles and closed captions on CBS All Access.

Via Mobile Phone

If you are streaming over your mobile device, follow the steps to turn on/off your subtitles.

  1. On your mobile device, launch the CBS All Access app.
  2. On the top-left corner, tap the three-line icon.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Tap Closed Captions.
  5. You will receive instructions on how to turn your subtitles on/off.

Via Smart TV

Using a smart TV allows you to watch shows on a bigger screen. However, the process differs further depending on the brand of your smart TV. In general, you need to go to the Settings page and navigate to Accessibility. You will be able to see the Closed Captions option.

Via Computer

When managing subtitles on your computer, you need to open any browser.

  1. Go to the CBS All Access website.
  2. Login to your account.
  3. Choose a video you want and press play.
  4. Hit pause.
  5. Look for the CC icon and click it.
  6. Now, you can choose to turn your subtitles on/off.

Via Roku Device

Use your Roku remote control to manage your subtitles.

  1. Launch the CBS All Access app on your Roku device.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Play any video.
  4. Press the asterisk button on your remote.
  5. Select Closed captioning.
  6. Choose the option you want for your subtitles.

Via Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick

Managing subtitles on your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick is almost similar to a Roku device.

  1. Launch the CBS All Access app.
  2. Select any movie and play it.
  3. Press the menu button on your Fire Stick.
  4. Go to Subtitles and Audio.
  5. Select the option that you want.

  1. Same here on Roku… No CC even when turned on with their directions.. Wish they would fix it… Been like this for a while

  2. It worked on my fire stick. I played a movie, and pressed pause to get the menu option. Arrow up to the menu in the upper right hand corner of the screen. You’ll see subtitles and you click them off. Even though it’s CC on the TV, turning the subtitles off works.
