To manually update your NOOK device, you will need a stable WiFi connection. While NOOK should automatically download the updates, it fails to do so if it is not connected to a WiFi network.

Take note that the installation of your new software version will only take a few minutes. Downloading the updates will not remove any content in your Library, including your books, newspapers, and more. It will not affect your account or other files transferred from your computer.

  1. To manually update your NOOK device, go to the Settings menu.
  2. Tap Device Info.
  3. Select About Your NOOK.
  4. You will then see the Software Update. If there is an update available, install it.

  1. i cannot update my Nook because it is unable to connect to the internet. It connects to the Wifi but does not have the correct software version to connect to the internet. Nor does it connect to my desktop (Mac or PC) for sideloading. Does that mean I’m out of luck and unable to use my Nook ever again???
