HBO Max gives your access to hundreds of movies, shows, and original content online. Now, users can also watch their content offline. All you have to do is download the movie or show that you want to watch when you are not connected to the Internet.
Each account is eligible to have a maximum of 30 downloads. You can use any profile and compatible devices. However, the downloads are not available for a lifetime. You can only store your unwatched downloads for 30 days on the HBO Max app. After 30 days, these downloads will be expired. You have to renew them or delete them.
Once you have stored up 30 downloads, you will need to delete current content if you want to download more movies to the app. There is a Lock icon on your downloaded movies for parental controls.
How to Download and Watch HBO Max Movies and TV Shows Offline
Before you start downloading movies, make sure you are using a WiFi connection. Downloading via your mobile network will require a faster connection, as it is using larger data. If you have to use your mobile network, change your settings by going to Video Options. Turn off the Download Over WiFi only option. You can also opt to receive a warning prior to download on your mobile network by enabling Cellular Download Warning.
But, if you are using your WiFi connection, you can proceed to the next steps.
- Launch your HBO Max app and sign in your account.
- Select a movie or a show that you want to download. Click Download.
- As the download process starts, a percentage progress is shown. Press X if you want to cancel the download. You can also pause the process and resume it later.
Where To Find Your Downloaded Movies on the App
- On your HBO Max app, go to your Profile.
- Next, select Downloads.
- You will then see all the movies that you have downloaded. Click the Play icon to start watching.
Take note that your downloaded movies are available for watching within 48 hours. The movie will then expired and you have to renew the download if you have not finished it yet or delete it.
How to Renew a Downloaded Movie on HBO Max App
- Go to your Profile icon and select Downloads.
- Look for the expired movie or show.
- Click Renew for 30 days.
