How to Fix Instagram Keeps Stopping or Crashing on Android



If there is one thing that gets us annoyed when we are using mobile apps, it is an app that keeps stopping. We cannot move forward to what we want to do in the app when it immediately freezes, crashes and simply does nothing else.

Many users are frustrated when their Instagram app keeps on stopping on their Android devices. With so many user updates and social media activities on Instagram, a lot of users are missing out. However, there are reasons why Instagram keeps stopping.

  • There is a problem with Instagram, so you cannot do anything about it.
  • You have storage problems on your Android phone.
  • There is a connection issue on your phone.
  • You have too many apps opened at the same time.
  • There are too many caches on your phone.

Whatever is the reason for your Instagram app to stop working, there are ways on how to solve this issue.

Fix Instagram Keeps Stopping on Android

Method #1 – Reboot Your Android Phone

  1. An easy fix is to restart your mobile phone. Close all the apps completely.
  2. Press the power button to reboot.
  3. Once your phone has completely restarted, launch Instagram, and check if it works.

Method #2 – Check Your Internet Connection

Do you have a weak network connection? You can check the connection on your phone by opening other apps using the Internet or search something on a browser. If it works fine, it is not an issue with your network connection. Otherwise, try to restart your modem or router.

Method #3 – Clear Your Instagram App Cache and Data

  1. To access the clear cache and clear data option, go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Click Apps.
  3. Look for Instagram.
  4. On some phones, you will need to go to Storage first.
  5. Click the Clear Data button.
  6. Click the Clear Cache button.

Method #4 – Update Your Instagram App

There may be updates that you forget to install.

  1. Go to Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Instagram.
  3. If there is an existing update, click Update.
  4. Follow the instructions and wait until the update is installed.
  5. Click Open to launch your Instagram app.

Method #5 – Reinstall Your Instagram App

  1. To uninstall the app, go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Click Apps.
  3. Look for Instagram.
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. Go to the Google Play Store.
  6. Search for Instagram.
  7. Click Install.

Method #6 – Report the Issue to Instagram

If none of the methods above fixed your problem, you can report it to Instagram.

  1. On your Instagram app or the Instagram website, select your profile picture.
  2. Click the Menu button or the hamburger icon.
  3. Navigate to Settings.
  4. Go to Help.
  5. Now, you can file a report.
