There are different reasons why the “android.process.acore has stopped” error pops up. One is due to corrupted cache data. Another reason is when there is an error due to a firmware upgrade. You may also see the problem when there are issues with your contacts app data.

Solution #1 – Clear the Cache in Your Contacts App

Before you attempt to clear the cache in your contacts app, take note that it will delete all the data. You will need to backup all of your contacts before doing the process.

  1. First, disable the Sync in your device.
  2. Launch the Settings of your device.
  3. Go to the Application Manager.
  4. Look for Contacts and tap to open.
  5. Select Force Stop.
  6. Now, look for the Clear cache button and tap on it.
  7. Once done, go back to the Application Manager menu.
  8. Look for Contacts Storage and tap to open.
  9. Select Force Stop.
  10. Tap the Clear cache button.
  11. Tap the Clear data button.
  12. Once done, restart your Android device.
  13. Using your backup, restore all your contacts data.

Solution #2 – Reset the App Preferences

  1. Launch the Settings of your device.
  2. Go to the Application Manager.
  3. Select the Reset App Preferences.

Solution #3 – Update Your Android Software

  1. To update your Android mobile phone or lablet, you must be connected to the WiFi.
  2. Launch the Settings of your device.
  3. Go to About Device or About Phone.
  4. Select System Updates.
  5. Tap Check for Updates.
  6. When an update is available, tap Update.
  7. Once the process is done, restart your Android device.

Solution #4 – Reset to Factory Setting


If none of the solutions above work, try to reset your Android device to factory settings. Take note that when you reset, it will delete all your data and will reset it to when you first bought the device. It will also remove apps installed on your device.

  1. First, backup all your contacts and data that may be stored in your device’s memory.
  2. Once done, launch the Settings.
  3. Go to Backup and reset.
  4. Tap the Factory data reset.
  5. Next, tap the Reset device.
  6. Now, follow the instructions on how to reset your device.
  7. Once done, you may now restore all your backup data.
