Apple users enjoy creating presentations using Keynote on their MacOs or iOS devices. It is a counterpart to Microsoft PowerPoint and you can open these files to any Mac or Apple devices. Keynote presentations files have the .key extension, unfortunately, it can only be opened on Apple devices. While it is okay for Apple users, it is not ideal if you have to open your presentation on a Windows environment or any other operating system.

The best thing to do is to convert your Keynote files to Microsoft Powerpoint format. It will change the extension from .key to .pptx and you can open it in any platform including Windows, Linux, or even an Apple computer.

Why Convert Keynote Presentations to PowerPoint?

There are several reasons for converting your Keynote presentation to PowerPoint. First, not everyone is using an Apple device. That being said, it will be difficult to do your presentation using a different PC. If you have to do your presentation with a primary non-Apple computer, you will end up not showing your presentation at all.

Second, not everyone can access Keynote presentations. If you need to share your presentation or collaborate at work with non-Apple users, it will be difficult. You will have to convert your Keynote file to PowerPoint before sharing, otherwise, they will not be able to open and view your file.

Third, it costs less to convert your Keynote presentation than buying additional accessories to connect your Apple computer to a projector. You will need to have compatible hardware to make it work and it takes a lot of time and money for the process.

Lastly, there are features in PowerPoint that you can apply to your presentation. For instance, you can add animations and insert Excel data on your presentations. Converting it to PowerPoint can help you improve what you need to present.

Converting a Keynote file to PowerPoint is easy and fast. Make sure you convert it to .PPT or .PPTX. You can convert through MacOS, iOS, or iCloud.
