How to Fix Spotify Error Code 1, 2, 3, 4 or 7 on Desktop App

But, there are times when you can encounter an error on your Spotify app especially those who are using Windows 10 PC or Mac computer to stream their music.

There are several ways on how you can deal with the error codes you see on Spotify. You can follow the methods to fix each of the errors mentioned above.

Method #1 – Confirm Spotify’s Current Status

It may be due to a problem with Spotify and not on your device or app. Their servers may be down as of the moment, so there is nothing you can do but wait. Check updates on their website and social media.

Method #2 – Power Cycle Your Device

A quick reboot can help refresh the connection and processes in your Windows 10 computer.

  1. Shut down your computer and unplug your router and modem.
  2. Wait for at least 30 seconds before plugging back in your router and modem.
  3. After connecting, power on your computer, and connect to the Internet.
  4. Relaunch Spotify.

Method #3 – Log Out and Log In on Your Spotify Account

  1. Launch your Spotify app.
  2. On the upper right corner, click your profile icon.
  3. Select Log Out.
  4. Now, try to log back in.

Method #4 – Uninstall VPN Tool

If you are using a VPN Tool, it may be the reason for the error.

  1. Launch the Control Panel.
  2. Select Uninstall a program.
  3. Another way is to go to Settings.
  4. Select Apps.
  5. Now, look for the VPN tool you are using.
  6. Click Uninstall.

Method #5 – Disable the Antivirus/Firewall

Your Firewall may be blocking Spotify. Try to disable it first and check if Spotify works. Launch the Firewall or any antivirus and choose Disable. Once Spotify works, you may allow it through your Firewall.

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Search for Firewall.
  3. Select Firewall & network protection.
  4. Now, click the Allow an app through the Firewall.
  5. Click Change settings.
  6. Look for Spotify and check the boxes both for Private and Public.
  7. Click OK.

Method #6 – Force Quit the App

  1. Launch the Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Processes tab.
  3. Look for Spotify and highlight it.
  4. Click the End task button.
  5. Now, try to relaunch the app.
