Social media is a great way to express yourself. But, there are moments when we regret the things we posted on our accounts. Deleting these posts publicly will give a huge relief.
That is why many users love the ephemeral messaging of Snapchat. Messages disappear once viewed without having any trace of being there, except if someone screenshots it.
Now, Facebook is also offering a Snapchat-inspired ephemeral messaging system across its ecosystem. Facebook Messenger and Instagram now has a feature called Vanish Mode.
What is Vanish Mode in Facebook Messenger and Instagram?

Similar to the ephemeral messaging mode of Snapchat, Facebook Vanish Mode will disappear instantly from the chat after viewed by the other party. It creates a safe way for users who do not want their conversation or messages being viewed by other people.
The Vanish Mode is available for both the Facebook Messenger and Instagram apps for Android and iOS. Users will have the option to turn it on or off in any chat message. You can send a vanish mode message and turn it off after to save the rest of the chat.

Take note that the feature is only available on individual chats and not on group threads. Aside from text messages, you can also send stickers, memes, or GIFs even when you are on Vanish Mode.

Facebook also wants to maintain safety when using Vanish Mode. Users are notified when someone screenshots their chat. They can also report any unsafe conversations or block someone.
As of now, the Vanish Mode is available in the US selected countries only but global rollout of the feature is already in place. What do you think of Vanish Mode in Facebook Messenger and Instagram? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
